Little G Weevil joins us in the studio! Hungarian-born Little G is based in the Atlanta area, but performs worldwide. He plays traditional "Southern Blues", sometimes acoustic, sometimes electric. He calls his own style of playing "Apple-picker Music" (he'll explain...). He's got a great story, and a great voice and boogie-woogie playing style. Nate Nelson and Dave Roth join us in the studio! Nate's website has a 3-word bio for him: "Picker and Singer". Dave plays upright bass for Nate and a ton of other bands around town including Mudcat (Check out Two Faces Radio Episode #4). Both have been playing around Atlanta for a long time, and we have known these guys for a while. Among their other gigs in the Atlanta area, they have been performing weekly at The Northside Tavern for over 7 years. Currently, you can catch them every Tuesday there. Robert Mercurio, a founding member of Galactic is our guest this week. If you are not already familiar with them, Galactic is an acclaimed Funk/Soul band from New Orleans. They began as an instrumental band highly influenced by New Orleans groups such as The Meters, but now they incorporate lead vocals more often, and are lucky enough to have worked with New Orleans legends such as Allan Toussaint, Irma Thomas, and Walter "Wolfman" Washington. Joining them on this tour is vocalist Cyril Neville of the Neville Brothers. They came through Atlanta Friday night and we were lucky enough to get Robert to sit down with us at The Variety Playhouse to do a podcast. Enjoy! Kodac Harrison joins us in the studio. We describe Kodac as "quietly legendary" in Atlanta when we introduce him on the podcast. He is a singer/songwriter/performer who was influenced by soul music at a young age, and is also now an accomplished poet and spoken word artist. He has been paying tribute to and performing "Piedmont" style blues for a long time in the Atlanta area, and currently has a new CD out called "Atlanta Rag". Tony Bryant is the son of Atlanta blues diva Cora Mae Bryant, and grandson of Georgia blues legend Curly Weaver. He is now carrying on his family's tradition performing this style of music. He is also the founder of CMB records, and has his own CD out called "Blues by Blood".
